Jueves 4 September, making a run to cross the border!!

Hello! So I am happily in Santiago de Chile! Yesterday, I was all ready to spend my first day stuck in Mendoza. I had extended my hotel for one night, and I had a long breakfast and was lazying around writting on the blog etc. When I quickly out of practise looked at the twitter (yes, you are reading it right) account for the mointain pass and it had a simple line saying "the pass has been reopened". So I went running back to my room gave the bua company a call and confirmed that in actual fact buses were leaving for Santiago as we were speaking!! Bad thing was that as I had been lazying around for a while there was only one bus left with an hour to go. So I froze for a second trying to decide what to do as it was likely that the crossing would be closed again on friday so I decided to leg it!
Quickly checked out, bought a bus ticket online (only 8 places left...), called a taxi and went to the station where without any other issue I boarded the bus!

Quite a nice bus actually. Plenty of room for each person (kind of like a living room sofa). And I only got a semi-bed one as there are full on bed sits that I guess must be like bysiness class in the bus-version (except they only cost 5 euros more...).

The trip was really pretty as predicted, with the only exception of having to get down from the bus to wait for an hour to do the border crossing with the attached paperwork...

Once we crossed to Chile it started snowing again quite heavily...

Have a look at some pictures!
